Steel building prices vary depending on the size and complexity of the structure involved. A basic modular frame steel building that is 10 feet tall and 30 by 40 feet wide would cost roughly $10,000 although a kit can lower that price considerably. Adding 5 feet to the height will easily double the price so plan accordingly.

One of the best ways to lower steel building prices is by using existing structures advantageously, using recycled and reclaimed materials such as old silos, shipping containers, and other discarded pieces of metal. Steel is incredibly durable and when taken proper care of can be reused and recycled indefinitely.

Steel building prices for shipping containers start at about $1000 for a new 20x8ft shipping container and $2000 for a 40x8ft container, they can be found for less used though the condition may not be adequate for living quarters. The beauty of these containers is they are structurally sound and easily stackable in a variety of configurations. They can be laid side by side and one on the other and then have interior cut out for unique and large spaces.
